I eagerly awaited the time when EP Carrillo would be releasing this years edicion limitada cigar, EP Carrillo Edicion Limitada 2012. I mean, why not? Last’s year release, Dark Ritual, I consider to be one of the best cigar I’ve ever had. Such a rich, flavorful, well balanced cigar at a decent price. I couldn’t get enough of them. Two weeks ago, EP Carrillo finally did it. They released their 2012 edition. This version had a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Brazilian binder and filler from Nicaragua. The cigar looked beautiful like the other editions with a strong, rich tobacco, earthy aroma As I lit the cigar, I was hit with an initial woody, leathery, pepper blast. You really feel that pepper on the back of palate. After the first inch, I started to detect a nice bitter, yet also sweet note with the cigar. As I smoked more, those flavors reminded me of coffee and raw, burnt sugar. Actually, what it tasted like to me was Cuban coffee. I REALLY didn’t mind that flavor at all since I LOVE Cuban coffee. As the cigar burned down, around the mid way point, a nice chocolate note emerged. That chocolate note, for me, ramped up continuously until the end. This was another outstanding limited release from EPC Cigars. Definitely box worthy. Check out the video for more detailed information.
