Welcome aboard the review train. This weeks special boxcar presentation will be on the 231 Rockhill by Cuban Stock Cigar Company. You may think the name is a bit weird (I did at first) but it is named for their actual street address in Bala Cynwyd, PA. This cigar is available in three sizes, torpedo (6.5×52), double robusto (5.5×56) and the size I have for the review, double toro (6.5×56).
Pre-Light
Starting off this 231 Rockhill cigar looks very nice. Nothing remarkable about the wrapper at all and in the cigar world that seems to be a great thing. Bit of a barnyard scent on the wrapper, some caramel on the foot and a bit of caramel, spice and wood on the cold draw.
Shovel the coal and off we go.
First Third
Heading out of the station with this 231 Rockhill and right away there is a burnt caramel taste with some woodiness and a peppery spice. In about an inch now and the flavors picked up a bit in strength but are remaining the wood and burnt caramel as the dominant with the caboose bringing in some spice.
First third ended the same as it was going. Really consistent through the first third.
Second Third
Heading into the coal car of this 231 Rockhill and the flavors seem to be settling into a consistency that I hope does get broken up a bit here in the second third. Flavors stayed the same except towards the end of the second third the burnt caramel turned to regular caramel and the spice got a little more sharp.
Final Third
Here we are at the caboose of this 231 Rockhill and so far the flavors have really been consistent throughout with a bit of touchups needed. Flavors have stayed true to the end with the spice picking up a bit. Cigar started to unravel so I ended at about an inch and a half.
Wrap-Up
Would I buy it again? Yes. For the price it is a solid smoking cigar that is very consistent throughout and has nice flavors. I wish the burn would be better but we cant have everything. give it a try and see what you think and let me know in the comments.
