Introduced in 2014, Crowned Heads released the Las Calaveras to honor loved ones that passed away that year. Released each year in a new blend, this year has a Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The 2015 Las Calaveras has been released in three sizes this year instead of the two in 2014.
- LC46: 5 5/8 x 46
- LC50: 5 x 50
- LC52: 6 x 52
The cigar starts off with a strong cedar note with earth, black cherry and raw sugar sweetness. As the cigar burns down, it really develops a more complex flavor profile as some cinnamon spice enters and the sweetness turns into a nice mocha flavor. Nearing the end, the cedar note gets stronger, but is kept in check with the sweet mocha flavor and cinnamon. I prefer the LC46 in this blend though, as it has a stronger sweet mocha note and a little more savory spice note. Overall, this is an outstanding cigar. The cigar is well balanced with rich flavors and a medium-full body. Its a steal for only $10.00. They are only available in a very limited supply so I wouldn’t wait to pick some up. Once they are gone, they are gone until next year’s release. You don’t want to miss out on these.
