One of the hottest cigar companies in the industry right now is Warped Cigars led by Kyle Gellis. Warped Cigars have released several blends including limited editions that are so sought after, many retailers have problems keeping them on the shelves. Several Warped Cigars have even made it onto our Top 10 Cigars of the Year list. The Black Honey is probably the most sought after cigar Warped has ever put out. Combining components of two of Warped’s most popular blends, La Colmena and El Oso, the Black Honey was born. The Black Honey uses the wrapper from the El Oso and the binder and filler from the La Colmena.

Pre-Light
The wrapper is very rustic looking with a slight roughness to the touch. The cigar looks to be impeccably rolled, though, with notes of barnyard and earth on the wrapper. The cold draw and notes of chocolate, cedar and hay.
First Half
The flavors are amazing right from the start. The cigar has a black pepper blast that just envelopes the palate. The black pepper is joined by a silky honey note, roasted peanuts and nougat. Nearing the middle, the black pepper tones down a bit and a cocoa note is starting to develop. The cigar is medium to medium to full bodied.
Last Half
The second half was savorier than the first half which was definitely sweeter. The black pepper is the backbone of the cigar, but sweet, silky honey note along with the nougat note has faded a lot. The roasted peanut note is still there with a bitter cocoa note. The black pepper ramps up a bit more near the very end and finishes with a full body.
Conclusion
These cigars sold out in most places in less than 2 hours. Only 60 bundles were produced so these were pretty hard to find. I hate doing reviews on cigar to will be hard for you to find, but I wanted to get word out about how good this cigar is. The cigar is a nice mix of sweet and savory notes will a great construction. They are released yearly so be ready next year. It will go fast again, but keep an eye out and snag some of these gems next time before it’s too late.
Hi Ben,
For those of us who are unlikely to get our hands on one of these rare gems, is there a more readily available cigar to which the Black Honey is comparable? Sorry, I didn’t mean to put you on the spot here.
Thanks!
Hey Anthony,
That’s a good question. Probably the closest thing that comes to mind would be the EP Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Reserva. It has similar notes and is a favorite of mine. Its your lucky day, send me a email with your address and I will send you one of my Black Honey cigars.

Just emailed my info.
I have smoked plenty of the EP Carrillo New Wave but not the New Wave Reserva. I will have to pick up some of the latter.
Thanks, Ben!
