I’m pretty happy to be doing this review. The Regius Black Label is one of my favorite cigar lines and I heard that Akhil Kapacee teamed up with Mitchell Orchant of Alfie Turmeaus Tobacconist in 2014 to release special editions bearing Orchant’s name, Regius Seleccion Orchant. Released originally in a robusto size and also in a torpedo size called the Campana, they recently added a Hermoso size for 2016. They took the Black Label blend and tweaked it a little to release in these special sizes. Only 600 boxes were made, 200 of which went to Alfie Turmeaus Tobacconist and the remaining 400 went to select retailers in the US.

Luckily, a friend at The Cigar Shop in Biloxi, MS, Eric, gifted me a few of these cigars.
Pre-light and Construction
The wrapper is golden, medium brown and very smooth to the touch and the cap is well applied. The draw pretty good, but a little on the loose side. The pre-light flavor is a little crazy. As a southern kid, we used to look for honeysuckle flowers when we would be outside playing (a rarity these days) to pull them apart to get the drops of nectar inside. It was a nice sweet treat. The flavor on the cold draw reminds me of that honeysuckle nectar which is sweet and floral.
First Half
The cigar is starting off very nice. I get that sweet floral note again with black pepper, especially on the retrohale. I also get a beautiful spiced pecan note as well along with a cedar wood note. The cigar is smoking wonderfully with a nice volume of smoke.
Second Half
The second half starts off with a toasty note with a little more cinnamon spice. The cedar note has gotten a little stronger as well and the sweet floral notes has tapered off. It little bitter coffee note has developed as well. The cigar is still burning great with great smoke production.
Overall Impression
This cigar is outstanding. I love the Regius Black Label line, but this is beyond that. I think it’s the pinnacle of the line. I can’t wait to order a box of these as I believe they age incredibly as well. They are limited so if this sound like something you want to try, hunt them down now as they could disappear quickly. I highly recommend this cigar.
I would love to try some more of the Regius line as i really enjoyed the first one I had. if I can ever get my damn medical crap straightened out I can start looking for some.
I do have concerns about the floral cold draw though….
great review as usual Ben!
