Nat Sherman Epoca 2019 Limited Edition

Nat Sherman release two limited editions to their regular line up this year at IPCPR 2019 in Las Vegas.  The first one was a Timeless Limited Edition and the Epoca Limited Edition which we are reviewing here.  Both cigars were well received at IPCPR and I was able to smoke a few of each one before, and during the show.  For this review we are focusing on the Epoca Limited Edition which was released in August with the Timeless Limited Edition.  The Epoca Limited Edition 2019 is being made for Nat Sherman by the Plasencia Family at Plasencia Cigars SA in Nicaragua.  The cigar is only available in a 6 x 52 toro size in 10 count boxes.

Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
MSRP:  $15.00

Cigars purchased at Parkway Cigars in Tallahassee, FL.

Appearance

The  cigar has a beautiful dark mocha brown wrapper that looks very leathery.  Nat Sherman used thick paper bands for the limited edition that look really nice and used colors that really pop.  The wrapper is very smooth with minimal veining and a well applied cap.  After clipping the cap, I tested the draw which is perfect.  I got notes of cedar, pecan and leather.

First Half

The cigar is smoking wonderfully.  I’m getting notes of leather, white pepper, pecans and caramel.  The caramel notes are subtly sweet which gives the Epoca Limited Edition a nice contrast of flavors.  I get more of the spiciness on the retrohale and the caramel sweetness is intensified as well.  The Epoca Limited Edition is very rich and flavorful with a full body.

Second Half

The Epoca Limited Edition is less sweet and more savory on the last half.  I still get the leather, white pepper and pecan notes.  The caramel sweetness has faded but the caramel butteriness is there in the background.  On the retrohale, it’s still just more spices but much less sweet.  The cigar is smoking beautifully with a full body.

Overall Impressions

I really loved this cigar.  It’s definitely box worthy and I’ve been trying to get a box, but soon as they hit the shelves at my local shop, they’re gone.  So I’m not the only one that really loves these cigars.  It has a rich savory and sweet profile with a full body that is really a pleasure to smoke.  So far, all these Nat Sherman limited editions have been home runs.  Snap these up when you run across them at your local cigar shop, if you can.  We will be taking a look at the Timeless Limited Edition 2019 next week.  Stay tuned.

Final Score:  92
