Vasco da Gama Coronas

Huge thanks to Carlos aka Boofa for his very generous care package he sent me last week.

I gotta say, I enjoyed this cigar more than I thought I would. I actually thought the cigar would be harsh and I would label the cigar as a DNF. To my surprise I really enjoyed the flavor profile of a nice sweet taste on your lips with a mild wood/spicey taste that eventually develops into a deep woodsy taste. My only advice is not to use the cedar sleeve to light your cigar. If it wasn’t for the stinky ashtray Walt got me for Christmas I may have burned down my house but instead I just smelled up the house and got a mouthful from my pregnant wife.

Video runs 15:30 and watch my stinky ashstray save the day!

  1. Holy Crap man!! I had to pause the vid after seeing that cedar sleeve go up in flames. I couldn’t stop laughing and this review will become a classic.

You review was pretty much dead on. I’ve tried some of the other da Gamas and these are the best of the bunch.

I’m glad you enjoyed the cigar and I look forward to future trades with you.

    Enjoy those other smokes!!!

Sidenote…stinky ashtray makes a great firepit doesn’t it!!!

  2. Jerry,
Great review. This is a classic. You had me rollin’ there with the “cedar” wrapper. Anyways, great review and always looking forward to the next.

  3. Too funny Jerry! Definitely a classic “Stogie Review Moment”! You can’t rehearse things like that man. Thanks for making my Friday easier to deal with!

  4. Jerry its on again bro! Another Friday and the Blackberry Boys are gonna try and get your video to the top of the blip.tv charts. Currently you are #25 Top Watched so lets see what kind of damage we can do.

Who can resist watching stuff burn.

  5. I wish there was such a thing as Smell TV so you guys could experience that God aweful smell! I honestly thought it was going to catch everything in my stinky cigar ashtray on fire. Glad I could give everyone a nice laugh on a Friday. We all need a good laugh every now and then.

    Thanks for the support everyone!

  6. Jerry, you are the king man, I have to tell you, I just love your video’s!!! The wrapper has made this just a classic! 🙂

But this brings up an interesting idea though, you guys should make a list of the bottom 10 cigars of 2007. I know this is a challenge that few would want to accept, but everybody and their brother attempts to find the top 25. But who’s out documenting those tobacco tubes that make you run for sand paper to scrap your tongue?

Anyone can smoke a good cigar and make a list. I know I’ve got a few “premium hand made long fillers” sitting in my moochador waiting for me to pawn them off on someone that will smoke that cedar wrapper you had there and claim it’s a good smoke and I’ve got a cigar for them.

Why, I’ll even contribute a few of these cigars to the cause with the only caveate being you not come over and burn my house down. Classics from Thomson and one even from Cigar International complete with rave reviews about how they are a premium hand made long filler great for an everyday smoke.

I think it would be great to read the rave written reviews while smoking these “Tubes you wish you’d forgot” and trying to figure out which of these beauties was the good enough to make it to the bottom 10 of 2007.

    Food for thought anyway heh.

    Dave

  7. Dude, that was the first cigar review I let my wife watch, she was rolling on the floor from your expression as you looked at the ashtray during the fire. Man that was classic. You’re nothing if not enjoyable. 🙂

  8. Every site needs a funny man. Brian & Walt are much more knowledgable smokers than I am. I need something to draw attention to my reviews and if I need to burn down my house so be it.

Dave – You know, I really like that idea. Kind of how that guy does Hollywood’s Worst Dress list every year. I think you’re onto something!

  9. Did you roll up the cedar? Aren’t you supposed to just break off a thin plank of the cedar and light it off that? Thanks for the video. Merry Christmas.
