Week in Smoke – Bayou Edition No. 2

Its been a crazy week for me. My son has been really sick so I haven’t had much time to smoke many cigars, not to mention to record any reviews. I was able to get in a few cigars in between taking care of him, working and honey do task. Here are a few of the things I smoked this week.

Illusione ~888~

888

I’m not a big churchill smoker, but I do like them from time to time.  The Illusione ~888~ is probably my favorite of them all.  Amazing flavor and a proper ring gauge, you just can’t go wrong.  One of my all favorite cigars.

Curivari Reserva Limitada Classica Toro

I really like pretty much the entire Curivari collection of cigars.  The ones I seems to smoke the most are the Reserva Limitadas, Cafes and 1000 series.  I probably smoke these the least though.  Probably because they are the spicy brother to the other two lines. I’m not a big spice fan, but these have a more toned down spice, but enough to keep spicy smokers interested.  Spicy, along with the coffee and leather notes, makes this a very good smoker.

Faraones Tutankamon corona

My buddies up at The Cigar Lounge of Starkville raved about this after the IPCPR show. They brought back some samples, but only in the large 6 x 60 ring gauge.  As an absolute hater of that size, I polietely declined the offering until they got their order in of normal sized cigars.  Luckily on my next visit, they have the coronas in.  I have to say, its was a tasty cigar. Nothing that would blow your mind, but good rich flavors of leather, coffee and hints of cocoa.

La Flor Dominicana Cabinet Maduro Toro

I can’t fully express how much I love these.  There isn’t much else I would rather smoke in the LFD line than these.  Available in toro and torpedoes, I first smoked these over at the awesome Harbor Cigars in Destin, FL and immediately fell in love.  Full of flavor with chocolate, espresso, leather and nuts with hint of spice, its just a flavor bomb.  Now these are available at my local shop in Biloxi, MS, The Cigar Shop, and I can’t get enough them.

A. Fuente Hemingway Signature Maduro

Fuente Signature maduro

These are just a classic.  I love the Hemingway line and these maduro versions just take it up another notch.  You get all the great Hemingway flavor with nice cocoa sweetness now added to it.  These used to be only available during the holidays, but now you can find them year around.

Surrogates Animal Cracker

L'Atelier Animal Cracker

I’ve been waiting for these to hit the shop since their release at IPCPR.  I’m not a fan of large ring cigars.  In fact, I despise them with a passion, but sometimes, something really peaks my interest.  This one of those times.  Its a handful.  Strong, but flavorful.  Look for an upcoming review of this soon.

La Aurora 107 corona

La Aurora 107 corona

The 107 corona is my favorite of the 107 line and its a constant staple in my humidor.  La Aurora held a contest headed up by my buddy, Barry Stein of La Aurora, where you can win a trip to the Dominican Republic on them by posting a picture of yourself smoking a 107 on 10/7 and hashtagging your tweet with #LaAurora107.  This was my entry.
