Asylum 13 has been one of the hottest brands on the market lately and it’s no surprise why. They have been making very good cigars for a very good price for the past couple of years. Most stores haven’t been able to keep them in stock, buying as much as they can, when they can. The only problem for me with them is that no one near me has carried them, until recently, and they have ridiculously large ring gauge cigars. As you know, I’m not a fan of the 60+ ring gauge cigars, which is why I was excited to see the Asylum 13 newest release: 99 Problems lancero. This cigar is being made at Christian Eiroa’s new Fabricas Unidas cigar factory in Honduras. He said the demand was high from retailers to bring out a lancero even though he knew how much of a headache it would be to make and sell them. Lanceros are hard to roll and they are for a niche smoker so sales usually are not too strong for this vitola. I personally love them along with other traditional vitolas like the corona and lonsdale. Christian called these the 99 Problems because of the issues he believes the retailers will have in selling lanceros….in a 99 count box. These cigars are limited to only 500 boxes as well and are the same blend as the rest of the Asylum 13 line.
- Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano
- Binder: Nicaraguan
- Filler: Nicaraguan
They should be arriving at retailers very soon at the posting of this review if they haven’t already arrived.
Thanks Ben. I really enjoy the Asylum 13 5×50 robusto and love a good lancero, so I will definitely have to check this one out. Looks like the price is $7.
