Appearance
The cigar has a beautiful olden brown wrapper without a single flaw. This is what I expect from an Avo cigar. The 30 Years has an easy draw with notes of hay and wood.
First Half
This first half of the 30 Years started of quite mild. I get notes of toast, white pepper, sweet cream, baking spices. The cigar started to get slightly floral about two inches in which was quite nice. I did have a minor burn issue with the wrapper with a run on a leaf vein as you can see in the picture. The 30 Years smoked very smooth, almost velvety, if that makes sense.
Second Half
The 30 Years was pretty much the same in the second half with some subtle differences. The 30 Years has notes of toast, sweet cream, oak, white pepper, which I only got on the retrohale, baker spices, and still slightly floral. The 30 Years was woodier on second half and more creamy. The body of the cigar is till mild.
Conclusion
I’ve really been impressed with the Improvisation line from Avo Cigars. Each one has been great and the 30 Years is no different. It does remind me of the Avo Cigars of old where they were quite mild, but still had good flavor. They were building off the Avo Classic No. 3 and it shows. It had a lot of the same flavors of the original Classic line, but more flavorful and smoother. These are a bit pricy, but if you are an Avo or Davidoff smoker, you are used to the price and may even consider this cheap. Either way, you are getting a great cigar for the price.
Thanks for the review and I will check the local B&M for this cigar. I enjoyed the AVO 4 cigar sampler and wondered if the mystery note cigar was going to be come a full time release. If anyone knows and can write that in a reply that would be great. The wrapper on this stick appears to be lighter than the mystery note.
