La Aurora introduced a new value cigar line called the Cazadores by La Aurora earlier this year. The line is available in 3 sizes all priced under $4.25 per cigar. The Cazadores enters a crowded field with several cigar companies introducing value priced cigars over the past few years. It’s actually a nice turn in the industry as many cigar companies have been releasing cigar, many that are limited editions, that are in the $15 plus price range. There wasn’t too much information provided for the cigar, but let take a look at the price and blend.
- Wrapper: Connecticut Shade
- Binder: Indonesian
- Filler: Dominican
- MSRP: $3.75
Pre-Light
The wrapper has a light brown wrapper that almost looks dusty to the touch. The cap looks sloppily applied but the wrapper looks well applied and smooth. The cold draw has notes of hay, florals and a hint of citrus.
First Half
The first half starts with notes of hay, florals, citrus, almonds and a hint of caramel sweetness. I get more of the caramel sweetness on the retrohale as well. The Cazadores has just a hint of nutmeg spice in the background too.
Second Half
The second had a lot of notes fade away and the Cazadores became much more simplistic. I only get notes of cedar, florals and almonds at this point. The citrus notes have faded away and the sweetness is gone. Still, the cigar is quite enjoyable.
Conclusion
The Cazadores by La Aurora was a pretty nice surprise. A lot of budget friendly cigars are very harsh and are just not enjoyable. The Cazadores was very tasty and smooth, especially for the price point. Honestly, at this price point, I don’t really think you can do any better. The Cazadores smokes like a cigar double its price point. Even if you are not a budget smoker, give these a shot. I think you will be presently surprised.
