Before I left for my two week trip to the Philippines I was left with the dilemma that faces all BOTL. What cigars to pack for my trip?
I went thru the humidor and picked out some of my usual smokes (Torano Signature, Maria Mancini, Partagas Black Label, Punch Champion & Rare Corojo). When I finally made my way to the last drawer of my humidor I spotted a bunch of cigars that I totally forgot.
Back in December, I was getting some last minute holiday shopping done with the wife in Georgetown (a nice shopping and entertainment district in Washington DC). While she was in Ann Taylor Loft I made my way across the street and found myself inside Georgetown Tobacco.
Now I wasn?t looking for anything special. I was actually just browsing and maybe find a stick to smoke on the way home. I walked inside the humidor and stumbled on a box of Partagas Limited Reserve.
At $22 a stick I was a bit unsure if I really wanted to spend that kind of cash on something I?ve only heard about. I opened up the wallet and saw a little over a $100 inside and figured the wife really doesn?t need a Christmas present as much as I need these sticks. I went ahead and bought the last 5 in the box. For karma, I did give one to my buddy Ghosty to save for a special occasion.
The Partagas Limited Reserve made the 30 hour door-to-door trip and upon arrival to the Philippines I was happy to find that all my sticks stayed in tack and the humi-tube device didn?t spill its goo all over the box.
I saved this stick for the hottest, most unbearable night. The gauge read 90 degrees at 11pm!
I pulled out my trusty Xikar, placed it on the table, clipped the end, toasted the foot and the next thing you know?WOW!
If there is a thing called ?Cigar Heaven? then smoking the Partagas Limited Reserve gave me a glimpse of it and let me tell you my BOTL, the clouds are paved with cedar my friends.
This is a cigar for the ages, smooth, crisp, slow burning, wonderful cedar aroma and complex creamy/earthy flavor. Your senses are engulfed by this smoke. You actually become ?one? with the stick.
The Partagas Limited Reserve is perfection. They are hard to find and may cost you an arm and/or a leg but the experience is well worth it. You won?t be disappointed?
