We talked to Justin Andrews about the Diesel Grind as our 2017 IPCPR tour of the General Cigar booth continues. A lot of our viewers will recognize the name Diesel, as a product that A.J. Fernandez blends, but not one you associate with the General Cigar family of products. That changed this year, as General Cigar has taken over distribution of the popular Diesel Grind.
The Diesel Grind has been around for a while, Walt took a look at this cigar back in December of 2012. It’s a brick and mortar-only cigar, with a Habano wrapper, and Nicarguan fillers from Jalapa, Condega, and Ometepe. It is now very likely the strongest cigar in the General Cigar portfolio, and that’s the reason General Cigar was showcasing it at the trade show. It covers a market segment that has not been their strength. If this venture is successful, you can bet there will be an expansion in the Diesel line in coming years.
