Our General Cigar booth tour continues with Rick Rodriguez in the CAO section. Rick tells us about the new CAO Nicaragua in this interview. The goal was to create a mellower, complex Nicaraguan cigar that everyone can enjoy, not just the bold spice bomb that is so common with cigars produced there. On the subject of Nicaragua, we talk a little about the situation down there. At the moment, they’re not having any problems, but they can quickly switch production over to a factory in Honduras if it becomes necessary. They don’t have plans to do that at this point, but it’s good to have a contingency plan.
We also take a quick look at a shiny CAO Flathead ashtray that was on display. It resembles an engine block, and will be available in a variety of colors in Spring of 2019.
