CAO America (Guest Review)

Another of our long time readers, Stogielover, shares his thoughts on the Americana by CAO

Wrapper: Pinstripe Maduro and Natural Shade Connecticut
Binder: Brazil
Filler: Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Italy, USA.
Smoking time: 1 Hour 30 Min

I just picked two of these up last night and what a find. My local shop got several boxes in on a recent shipment and I was excited. As soon as I opened the box, I got a rush of very pleasing aroma, chocolate/hay/classic cigar smell.

I clipped it and slowly toasted the foot. The first third is amazing. I got mostly caramel flavors from this smoke, with some earth, chocolate and a hint of CAO brazilia taste in it. The second third got slightly spicy and then moved back into the caramel flavor. I think this is the best double wrapped cigar I have ever had! It actually seems to blend the flavors rather than create two seperate ones. The final third I got some nutty flavors with underlying caramel and chocolate.

Overall this is a great smoke. The construction was perfect like all CAO’s and the cigar was packed nice and tight. The draw was firm but not hernia inducing tight. It is medium to full bodied, but it never gets harsh, smooth all the way. The price point is a little high, but I have seen boxes of the robusto size going for 99 bucks online which brings them to about 5 a pop. That’s not too bad consider what a great smoke you get.

I would recommend that everyone give it a shot. I think even if a novice took it slow, he would enjoy it.

Let me know what you think guys. Enjoy!

There are no guidelines in place as far as a format goes. The only thing I ask is that you refrain from using a rating system. The reason being that since we do not use one here on Stogie Review, I would like to keep the same trend in the guest reviews.

Pictures of the cigar in action are not required but would be a nice addition.
