While searching through my email late last night, I came across a press release from J.C. Newman Cigars. You may remember my last post about this company and how they are doing all they can for their employees during these tough economic times. This time they are visited by brothers Tiki and Ronde Barber as NBC Today tours Tampa.
The segment is incredibly brief and doesn’t contain much in the sense of education, but I thought it was a nice way to briefly mention cigars to the masses via a pre Superbowl tour of Tampa.
yep… saw that on super bowl sunday… and it honestly made me decide to never buy JC newman cigars again…

I’ve always been of the mind set that “there is no such thing as bad publicity” well, this one was intended to be good, but turned out to be bad… bad enough for at least one cigar smoker (me) to stay away from the company.
I feel slightly more dummererrer after watching that.
I live here in Tampa, so I’m going to see if I can get a tour at JC Newman. I’ve already been to Thompson and there are great little smoke shops in Ybor city. You can definitely get the sense that this was the cigar capitol of the world some years ago.

It’s been awhile since I walked the streets of Ybor visiting the many cigar shops there. I may have to pay that place a visit again soon.

if our govt. would reduce the regulations on business, then there would be more companies with jobs in the U.S. MY 2 cents…
