Sir Stogies is located on the main thoroughfare through Boyertown and Gilbertsville (Rt. 73). The shop is close to local attractions, making a spur of the moment visit very convenient.
Due to the size of the street and the volume of traffic it receives, street parking is not an option. There is plenty of parking in the rear, which can be accessed by a one lane driveway next to the building. Getting in and out of the driveway can be a challenge with local rush-hour traffic. In the event that someone pulls in before you reach the end of the long driveway, you will need to back up to allow them through.
The shop itself is located inside of an old factory. Much of the rustic feel remains with large exposed beams and original hardwood floor. The retail space utilizes one area on the first floor while other sections of the building operate as a separate business (custom signs and flags). Both business are owned and operated by the same family.
Staff: Exceptional
When it comes to staff, Sir Stogies absolutely shines. It is a family operated business, all of which are genuinely happy to see you and go out of their way to smile and say hello. During my first visit I was greeted at the door with a smile and a handshake. That same courtesy continued throughout the store as I met other members of the family (I believe I met four: Tim, Sandy, and their son and daughter).
My first time into the humidor I was followed in and asked if I required any assistance or had any questions. When I replied “No, but thank you for asking”, I got a smile in return and was left to browse freely.
While looking around the store, I overheard a couple of customers being helped. Regardless of which family member was assisting the customer, they seemed pleased to be of assistance. Nothing was pushed on the customer and they all seemed satisfied when it came time to make a purchase.
Stock: Average
Sir Stogies is a new shop which opened up on Black Friday of 2009. Because the shop is young, its stock is relatively small but continues to grow. Many of the staples are available with a variety of top shelf and boutique cigars sprinkled in. Pricing is solid and seems below MSRP in some areas.
The humidor is well maintained showing no signs of mold. During my first visit I smoked two cigars fresh from the humidor without any issues of over-humidification. Stock is kept organized and clean with no empty cigar boxes or obvious holes in the selection from out of stock merchandise.
The walk-in humidor seems a little tight on space as it is. If the shop continues to grow at its current pace, I think Sir Stogies may find themselves out of room before long.
Lounge: Above Average
The Sir Stogies lounge is located within the retail space, it is not a separate room. The space is broken up through the use of leather furniture and a bar-height counter. With two large leather sofas, a leather chair, high table & chairs, and stools along the bar-height counter, twenty people could easily find a place to sit and converse, or watch television.
For those that enjoy watching television, there is a large HDTV in the lounge for your viewing pleasure. Customers may also take advantage of free wifi. Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, and Soda are available for $1.00.
Set aside from the lounge area is dedicated poker table (felt surface) and chairs. This space creates a quiet little corner if you are more interested in conversation with clients/friends and are less interested in what is on television.
Overall Opinion: Above Average
Sir Stogies is a shop that impressed me the first time I walked through the door. The second time I walked through the door I was just as impressed. The décor of the cigar shop is rustic and homey, you feel comfortable as soon as you pass through the threshold.
I’ve been to very few other shops that are so pleasant and eager to make you feel right at home. My first time in was during a Kristoff event, I was amazed that it was Sir Stogie’s first event because of how successful it was. If the customer base during that event is anything like the usual crowd, you couldn’t ask for a better mix of people. Smoking together was the older crowd, the younger crowd, and their wives and girlfriends.
I’ll most definitely be visiting Sir Stogies in the future and would strongly suggest that anyone in the area stop in for a visit. I think that you’ll feel right at home.
Sir Stogies is the best cigar shop in all of Pennsylvania. Everyone should visit it at least once, you wont regret it.
Very helpful staff and good selection. If I need a box they don’t stock they can usually get it for me in a couple days. Staff is always warm and welcoming unlike the typical attitude filled BnB staff. Worth the drive if you live outside the city.
I go way out of my way to shop here. Tim, Sandy and the staf could not be nicer. They have a great selection of products and the lounge is often comprised of happy, welcoming regular customers.
Be sure to stop in on Sundays for football and free homemade food prepared by Sandy.
Sir Stogies is simply the best most classy cigar shop around! Well stocked with fine premium cigars and Tim and Sandy……. you cant find better people…
Reviews are spot on, Tim and company have always treated me well and his knowledge has helped me as I am not a cigar expert by any means. The best smoke I had was a hand rolled Cuban number with the tobacco
Being over 70 years old. Absolutly the best smoke I ever had. Waiting as Tim said he intends to acquire a stock of these. When he does, go get as many as you can. I am heading down Tuesday to pick up a few standards. Have a great evening. Cheers, Kraig
