IPCPR 2008 – Interview with Nestor Miranda

On Day 3 of the IPCPR 2008 we had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Nestor Miranda of Miami Cigars. During the interview Nestor broke the news that Bahia cigars are now going to be handled by Miami cigars. My impression from the conversation was that this was an acquisition of Bahia by Miami Cigar.

  1. Great scoop guys!

If you could do an overview of this in writing too, it’d be nice.

Thanks for all you’ve done this week to keep us updated.

  2. Honestly and I’m not trying to be rude but I think I have a legitimate complaint.

I’ve been following you guys on YouTube for a long time and love what you guys do but I thought you’d do a better production job on these interviews. Its tough to hear and follow the conversation.

  3. Thanks Walt…I know its too late but for the interview you probably could’ve set the camera closer to get better sound. We all know what Brian looks like so he doesn’t really need to be on camera.

I can’t wait for SR coverage next year…maybe Jerry will stay for more than a day.

  4. Super Walt! Tough to hear but you know that…Jerry don’t you have an external mic from your old camera? Maybe you should mail it over to Walt.

Anyway, sounds like you guys had a great time in Vegas. Have either of you been to New Orleans before?

  5. Mitch – LOL yeah I will definitely stay for another day the next show. Seeing how exhausted Bob & Dale looked I don’t think I would do the a full show. I think 2 days (like any conference) is just about right.

Vic – I was in New Orleans pre-Katrina but haven’t been since. As long as the Ritz is still standing, I’ll be there. And you know, I don’t know why I didn’t think of giving my old external mic to Walt before. Great idea!

  6. Great bunch of vids and interviews from the show you guys… Next time you may want to get a wireless, handheld or directional mic for future show interviews… You can barely hear some of the interviews and that would be my only complaint…

  7. Great updates guys. As for the audio… Next year, I’ll bring the hi-def camera and a traditional hand held mic. So audio is covered 🙂

  8. Love it!

    ….Brian’s Hat….I mean……..

Great job considering you are doing these things on the fly with little to no preparation. Keep them coming!

  9. Maybe some post production work could fix the sound quality? Jerry don’t you use levelator? Do you think that would work?

Anyway, great coverage guys…while you couldn’t hear every word of the interview you can get the gist of it.

  10. The audio levels can most likely be corrected a bit during post production. I’m taking a few days off, when I get back into things I’ll do what I can to take care of the issue.

A new video setup is on the list of things to purchase. In addition I want to get a shotgun or hand held mic to take care of the audio issues for next year.

  11. I love the interview. I’ve not tried a Miami cigar but sounds like they are moving and grooving in the cigar world so have to look for them as well.

I really love this introduction of the cigar interviews and updates from the convention. I think it really kicks the sight up several notches. This is what the internet media is all about. Almost like we are there and fast instant access. Very nicely done!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I’m not big on interviews since every site is gonna have them in some format but I’m glad you guys got the scoop.

Even with the lack of sound in the interviews you and Jerry still provided the best day to day coverage of IPCPR so thanks for the hard work.
