Location: Average
This shop is located in a small strip mall.

Staff: Exceptional
I have always been happy with the staff. They are friendly, knowledgeable and they don’t hover when you go into the humidor.

Stock: Exceptional
They probably have the largest selection of cigars in Orange County. They prices are probably the lowest too. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a bad cigar due to storage there.

Lounge: Average
There are quite a few chairs and a couch to sit on. Unless it gets really really crowded (like an event) you can always find a place to sit. They do have a large (55″) TV with satellite service. Now it isn’t the nicest shop I have been it, but the selection, prices, and the friendliness of the staff and customers makes up for the seating arrangements.

Overall Opinion: Exceptional
I have always been happy going there. I drive about 30 minutes, past 2-3 other shops to go to this one.

  1. I used to live in SoCal and hung out at Maxamar’s with Keith. Despite the unassuming exterior appearance, this is everything a cigar shop should be: well-stocked, well-kept, fair prices, and friendly, knowledgeable staff. All of that without the pretentious snobbery that you find at certain other cigar stores…what’s not to love? Whenever I get back to California I make it a point to go to Maxamar’s.

  2. I live in Cental California, but visit Orange County quite often. I found Maxamar through it’s website and found it to be an awesome smoke shop in general and a great place for a beginner like me, it’s cigar selection is amazing and I found them to be friendly and helpful. I really liked that they don’t hover over you while are looking, but are willing to help if you have a question.

  3. Holy crap a review of a cigar shop that is actually in my area!!! When I’m out there in Orange/Yorba Linda I usually go to Cigar Empire off of Imperial Hwy. I’ve never been to Maxamar’s….

  4. I just got back from a trip to Orange County and went to visit Maxamar’s. They are the best B&M that I have been to. Very friendly and welcoming staff. They treat you just like one of the family. If you are in the area I would recommend stopping in to pick up some sticks and say hi.

  5. I visited this store earlier today and I was very happy and satisfied with everything overall. The staff is awesome. I don’t remember the guys name, but he was really helpful. The selection is fantastic. I am definitely going back to this location even if I have to drive 30 minutes to get there.

  6. Cigar selection is great. Lounge is cramped and ugly. Regulars made you feel unwelcomed and closed to changing the television channel to the consensus. Ventilation was awful. Employee refused to turn on ceiling fan when requested. Buy your sticks and leave- over-rated lounge!

  7. I regularly drive the 50 miles from downtown LA to Maxamars. There is no better shop in SoCal and I’ve made it a point to visit them all.

The prices are great but it’s the people that make Maxamars special. Mark and his team are all bonafide cigar guys that enjoy sharing honest opinions and guiding intelligent purchases.

If you live in LA, Riverside or Orange counties and u love premium cigars, you HAVE TO visit Maxamars.
