This year Travis Pappenheim took us on a whirlwind tour of the new product in the Altadis booth at IPCPR 2018. And we cover a lot of ground. We get started with the new Romeo y Julieta 1875 Nicaragua, which is a step up in body from the original 1875 and features Nicaraguan Habano leaf. Next we look at the Aging Room Pura Cepa, a Nicaraguan puro with blend designed to give off the same aroma as the cigars Rafael Nodal’s grandfather’s used to smoke. Travis recommends the toro in that line. Then we take a look at the Henry Clay Rustic Cheroot, the cigar is already out on the market, but it’s a fun short smoke. Up next in the Montecristo section, the Montecristo Nicaraguan Series which is made by AJ Fernandez, and Montecristo Platinum tubos which will be availabe around Christmas, the final release in the Artisan Series, and the final Grupo de Maestros. A little later we also take a look at another Grupo de Maestros offering, the H. Upmann Grupo de Maestros Connecticut.
Onyx has new packaging, but the cigar remains unchanged, and we take a quick look at the Trinidad Santiago made by Rafael Nodal, and a few other cigars which are already available.
Note: The lighting in the booth really played hell with our video gear. Give it a few minutes, the lighting improves considerably when we get into the Pura Cepa.
