Win a box of Colombian Gold Toro

Our second prize for the month of November is a box of Colombian Gold Toro courtesy of Bravo Cigars. Just like week one of our four week contest this month, entry will be simple. This time around we are asking that you comment on this post telling us your favorite cigar shop. In the near future I would like to list a few places for people to visit when they are out of town.

Please include the name of the shop and address. Also feel free to tell us a little about the store. One entry per person. The contest is open until Saturday November 15, 2008.

  1. My favorite shop is Duke City Cigars in Albuquerque, NM. The owner, Al Baca, is a great guy — his inventory is extensive and his prices are great!

  2. If you live in Atlanta, GA you have to stop by Highland Cigar Company (http://www.highlandcigar.com/).

    245 N. Highland Ave. Suite 140
    Atlanta, Georgia 30307

They have a humidor the size of most other cigar shops, but also have a full bar and some appetizer/sandwich type food. They have a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. They ONLY allow smoking of cigars in their establishment, so you do not have to worry about any mixing of smoke. If you are not one who wants to try to keep your cigars at the right humidity yourself you can rent humidors there and they will control the environment.

Check it out if you are in Atlanta. I do not think you will be disappointed. It is one of my favorite places to get a good cigar, hang out, and smoke.

  3. I’ve got three B&Ms around me that I frequent, and there are pros and cons to each. I just wish they could all be rolled into one shop.

Shawnee Cigar –9226 Dublin Rd, Shawnee Hills, OH – ww.shawneecigarcompany.com
    Pros: fantastic lounge
Cons: small walk-in humi, limited selection that is heavy on Perdomo

    Timba Cigar – 420 W Olentangy St, Powell, OH – http://www.timbacigarco.com
Pros: big walk-in humi, nice lounge
Cons: most expensive shop I’ve found

Stogies and Stix – 6788 Perimeter Loop Rd, Dublin, OH
Pros: nice size walk-in humi, best prices I’ve found so far, friendliest staff in town
    Cons: small lounge

There are a couple other shops that I don’t frequent because they just aren’t worth it, and I’ve recently learned of a few more shops around town I want to check out.

  4. Hello ya’ll,
My most favorite shop in the world is Barlow’s Premium Cigars and Pipes. It is a great shop lying just outside Boulder CO. Inside the shop is a large walk-in humidor full of all the best brands including Tatuaje (which is getting harder and harder to find these days). Their cigars are priced very reasonably and the people are awesome. Anyone is welcome to come in and enjoy a good smoke in their Diamond Crown lounge.
I’ll take this opportunity to thank the Barlows people if their reading this! So thanks!

I recommend it if ever you are in Colorado!

  5. My favorite shop is The Smokestack. They have a friendly and knowledgeable staff and very broad cigar selection. They also carry accessories, pipes (and tobacco), and a very nice beer selection.
    The Smokestack
    206 W Main St
    West Point, MS 39773

  6. My favorite is the Cigars International Megastore in Bethlehem, PA. It has a huge selection, a great lounge, good coffee, good people, and great prices. My local B&M’s are too expensive and have too narrow a selection to really warrant my endorsement, but CI does a good job taking their place. I highly recommend you stop by if you are coming through.

    4078 Nazareth Pike (Rt. 22 & 191)
    Bethlehem, PA 18020
    (484) 895-3933

  7. My Favorite local shop is the Don Yeyo Cigar Factory which is located in Dearborn,MI. The shop has two medium sized walk in humidors with a very decent selection with reasonable prices. The staff is very friendly and helpful ,especially when it comes to advising novice smokers.

  8. I have two. The first is Casa De Cuba. It has a nicely stocked humidor, a small lounge with satellite tv, good coffee, and other great non-alcoholic drinks. The owner, Jay, is a good guy and puts on some terrific events. The patrons are very nice. The staff is not that knowledgeable but they always have some eye candy working. It was the first cigar lounge that I went to and it has remained my number one shop despite being a 45 minute drive.

    Burton, MI

The other is the Corona Smokeshop. It has two locations, one in Jackson and one in Battle Creek. Both humidors are large and have one of the best selections around. The Battle Creek store has a nice lounge with a big screen tv. The owner, Jason, is a cool guy.

    The Corona Smokeshop
    275 W. Columbia Ave
    Battle Creek, MI

  9. cross street smoke shop in baltimore, right across from the cross street market and davidus cigar shop our in ellicott city off rt 40

  10. My favorite shop in my previous home (Las Vegas) is Tobacco Leaf at 9400 S Eastern Ave. They also have a shop in NW Vegas.

When I’m on the road, I like Angelina’s at 394 Enterprise Dr in Warsaw. They have another shop at 544 N. Oak Rd in Plymouth, IN.

My favorite shop here in the Chicagoland area is Stogies Plus at 1226 E. Lake St in Hanover Park, IL. It’s close enough, easy access, a nice selection with reasonable prices and a large and comfortable smoking area.

My absolute favorite, however, is Stag Tobacconist at 4109 Austin Bluffs Parkway in Colorado Springs. A very large selection and good prices help, but the companionship was truly outstanding. Temp housing in Colorado Springs for 4 months, I spent many a Sunday burning a couple of stogies (usually at least 1 Camacho Corojo) and solving the world’s problems either in the modest sized lounge or outside on the deck. I’ll be in Denver on business next month and I’m hoping to have a chance to drop in for a fresh Corojo.

  11. My favorite local shop is The Party Source http://www.thepartysource.com
    95 Riviera Drive
    Bellevue, KY 41073
    Phone: (859) 291-4007
    Fax: (859) 291-4147

Good cigars, good prices and good drinks. They have a gathering every Tuesday. In the summer they have it at the party source in the winter a bar down the street. When it is at the party source you get liquor store prices on your drinks. You can’t ask more than that. I just wish I could get to more but there is this pesky thing called work that gets in the way.

  12. The aren’t a lot of shops worthy of my time and money close to me, but the shop that I most frequently visit is the Morgan Hill Tobacco Company in Morgan Hill, CA. They have a fairly decent selection of cigars for a small shop, and have a wine cellar and a lounge in the back where they serve beer and wine. They also carry cigar accessories, pipes, and pipe tobacco.

The prices are a bit high (it is California, after all) but most of the staff is fairly knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The local patrons are great to chew the fat with as well. Stop on by.

    17430 Monterey Road
    Morgan Hill, CA 95037

  13. alas; I live in the Seattle area and with a smoking ban here that doesn’t even allow smoking inside SMOKE shops the local B&M scene is basically nonexistent… thank heavens for the online retailers and sites like this one

  14. The best cigar shop in my area (Appleton Wisconsin) is Appleton souvenir & Cigar http://www.appletoncigar.com/. They have a smoking lounge, a bar and a 30 foot humidor with a good selection of smokes. Not the best staff or prices but worth a stop.

    415 W College Ave, Appleton, WI? – (920) 830-8349?

  15. Kenny the King in Lakemore, Il

    Biggest humidor I’ve ever seen.
Endless number of manufacturer shows with great deals and free smokes.
Great place to chill and watch his BIG screen.
    Beer’s kept cold.
    He’s crazy with his deals.
    His 2009 plans are phenomonal!

    Ry.

  16. ahah, I get to represent the West Coast with a smoke shop that you can smoke in 🙂

    Tower Pipes and Cigars
    2518 Land Park Drive
    Sacramento, CA 95818

Heard of Tower Records? Well, the owner of the Tower Records chain first shop was here in Sacramento and this cigar shop is in that area. They also banned Arnold Schwarzenegger. How many other cigar shops can make that claim? It’s small, but loaded with personality 🙂

    I also like:

    Briar Patch Smoke Shop
    1689 Arden Way, #2006
    Sacramento, CA 95815

How many indoor malls in CA can you find a smoke shop and light up a cigar in the middle of the smoke shop irritating all those tolerant Californians 🙂 So this is a must visit place.

    Dave

  17. Out here in California you have to give up your first born to buy a nice cigar in a shop, $$$$$$$,tax, tax, tax.
Thank the Lord for online shops (C.B.com, JR, C.I.) The shops around here (North Bay area Cal) are pretty much just for lookin’

  18. Our favorite local dig is the Westminster Cigar Company! There are not many places to go but the have excellent customer service and a good selection as well, it helps that there are not many in our tiny little town but we still love them!

  19. The Tasting Room in Monona, WI. They recently moved into a new store just up the road from their old store. They did it to open up more space for their customers. The humidor is awesome. Wide and spacious. Bryant and Kevin always make me feel at home. They are incredible hosts.

  21. I stop at
    Lu-Mac’s,
    310 Route 2, Preston,
    Ct. 06365
whenever I need to buy a cigar ,a small shop but Scott ,the owner ,will order anything I would like to buy and he has a wide selection

  22. Havana House Cigars in Whittier is really cool, it’s a chill place to just go and hang out and meet with friends, they have a wide range on cigars, which is really awesome!

  23. One of my favorite shops to go to has to be the corona smokeshop in Battle Creek, Mi. There is one in Jackson but I have not been to that one yet. The staff is the friendliest I have encountered. The walk in humidor is the size of some shops. It has a lot of variety and decent prices. If you are into pipesmoking they have a selection of pipes and tobbaco. They have plenty of cigar accesories as well as roll your own cigarettes. If in town stop in and you wil be happy!

  24. I go to a “real cigar smoker’s haven”. It’s called Nickelby’s here in Omaha, NE. First glance into the shop and everyone is your friend and tutor no matter what your knowledge of puros. To all my friends I say Hi and smoke often!

  25. I’m a fan of JM Cigars in Exton, PA. I love the walk-in humidor and the owner and other employee have always been friendly. The selection is also pretty good. Prices are competitive as well because there is another shop in a town over.

    Overall, great place.
